Remember that time Jock axed about what women are bad at? I say sports. Women really bring the suck compared to dudes in general. The most annoying thing is you aren't supposed to notice it. Remember how Lilero got abused at the stock exchange for noticing that any NFL team could field a basketball team that would crush any WNBA team? Who would ever actually argue the opposite?
Keep in mind a major part of basketball is the slaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam dunk.

I'm currently in the midst of a similar argument with a new set of dumbasses. This is my new contention: any NFL team could field a basketball team that could win the MEN'S NCAA tourney. I think they would only need 4-man teams to win the women's.
ReplyDeleteThe women's ncaa or the wnba?
ReplyDeleteI thought the NFL vs. WNBA theory was mine, but I guess not. The principle of it is that the chix would get posted the shit out of, and would never get a rebound. And since they miss so many shots, they couldn't win, no matter how many shots the footballers missed.
ReplyDeleteWinning the NCAA men's seems unlikely though. Do you mean any NFL team, with practice and coaching, or just any NFL team? Cause definitely they're better athletes and usually a lot smarter, but the college kids got all the plays worked out and have a smart coach. Although I wouldn't rule it out. It seems like basketball is becoming more and more about strength and the big boys definitely have that. And an NFL all-star basketball team could probably take a few games off the Clippers.
I think an NFL team that had at least some preparation could likely win the men's NCAA. If they couldn't, it would be because of scheme like you said.
ReplyDeleteI actually think every NFL team could field a team to win the WNBA without using any of the 22 starters and by as many points as they wanted to win by.
the pass from matt cassell is to brandon jacobs... jacobs is taking it to the rack on diana taurasi.. taurasi has been killed.
ReplyDeleteI'll go further: there is no sport where the top women could beat the top men. Initially my theory was that this only applied to sports judged by either a score or a time. But I thought about it and decided that even in judgement sports (figure skating, diving) or sports where there is a variable athlete (horseracing, rodeo), dudes would always dominate. And Scoot's right, it truly is a bad thing that we can't call more attention to it.
ReplyDelete1. there is one semi-sport on earth that i know where women are just as good or better, the iditarod.
ReplyDelete2. i dunno why would we want "call attention" to anything.
3. the college men would crush the nfl players. the nfl guys could beat wofford, but not uconn or syracuse.
I dont really wanna call attention to stuff. I just dont wanna be the bad guy for noticing fax.
ReplyDeleteI believe a woman held the free diving record for a long time too. (She also died attempting to break her own record.)
ReplyDeleteThere's no chance the college men would crush the NFL players.
but the major college players are huge and quick too. i realize there are probably more than a handful of receivers in the NFL that might have made the NBA. but of course the NCAA tournament is stacked with future nba players as well. most major colleges have a few guys over 6'7 that are thoroughbreds, tomahawk-dunking supermen.
ReplyDeletenfl teams can match up in terms of athleticism, but not height or basketball skill. they dont have shooters or ball handling guards or even 7 foot centers like the elite college teams. i think the nfl would field a one-dimensional team of crippling power forwards, and would get crushed by well rounded teams with white 3 point bombers and lanky african centers. and the college teams with a basketball savvy players like chris paul or ty lawson would truly eat their lunch.
I think there's a lot less NBA talent in college ball than there used to be. There's also plenty of tall people in the NFL. I do agree that scheme would really matter. But just think about people like Jevon Kearse or those huge linemen that are still in great shape. I guess I think almost every skill-position player in the NFL could have played college basketball; and lots of the non-skilled players could fill in the gaps on the court.
ReplyDeleteI would be interested to see it in real life.
