Awesome Old School Country Song

The Highway Man

This was probably the best song from The Highway Men. A country version of a boy band featuring Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson and Wailing Jennings. They formed in 1985 and got together every now and then for concerts and recordings until Jennings died in 2002.

  1. All 3 albums are great, but nothing can top the 1st. The actual "The Highwayman" song is almost too good to be true. The 2nd album has a part 2 of it that is pretty good called "American Remains". The first line of it is "I am a shotgun rider, on the San Jacinto line" - and I once drove John Chapman to threatening physical violence on me at work one day when I kept singing it over and over and over again.

My favorite part of #2 is when Waylon plays the part of the riverboat gambler and they find him cheating so he gets thrown overboard. But you know the crazy way he ends up surviving? He can swim.
