(Pictured is Ted Nugent. This is just the face he makes when he gets really into the solo)Guitar World did a list of the 50 greatest guitar solos. I am sure Markulus and Nilk have plenty of opinions on the matter. I myself am just sad that Not Anymore did not make the list.
The top 10 is OK, although I would remove Watchtower and Crossroads. I'd replace them with For the Love of God and Mr. Crowley or maybe Sultans of Swing.
ReplyDeleteThe Bulls on Parade "solo" is stupid and so is anyone who thinks it's creative or groundbreaking. It should be #12312413.
I'm guessing Markulus would like to see When the Children Cry in there somewhere.
Sultans of Swing definitely top 10. Smells like Teen Spirit is unbelievable that it is even considered a solo. The most boring do nothing guitar part ever. It's just the verse played by an underskilled drug addict.
ReplyDeleteSuperstitious by Europe breaks the top 10 in my book. Mr. Crowley is in top 5. The solo that should win "most blazing beginning note of a solo" is Broken Home by White Lion...the entire thing is pretty sweet. I also think WL's Going Home Tonight" solo is crushingly great.
ReplyDelete...the live version of Mr. Crowley. The album version not nearly as great.
ReplyDeleteSuicide solution live also better than Eruption.
